Cecil watched in horror as her owner threw her
brother against the wall and killed him.  She was a
basket case from being abused.  It took four
months for her to not curl up in a ball when we
walked towards her.  To this day, she will hide
under her blankets if she feels uneasy.  As you
can see she loves to have her dinner served on
the couch.  Cecil still has lots of mental issues.
Princess Chompers was a stray that animal control
picked up. The staff fell in love with her because in
her own way she is very sweet, but has loads of
mental problems.  We were called the day before
she was to be euthanized.  When my husband
picked her up this poor girl had not been outside
the building in four months, so she freaked out
and bit him close to eight times in the arm.  Of
course they wanted to euthanize her right then but
my husband would not let them.  It was from fear
not aggression.  Chompers has come a long way
and we take things very slow with her.
Nugget came to us this summer weighing a
whopping 51 pounds.  She was so fat that she
could not walk ten steps with out being out of
breath.  We put her on a diet and she has lost
close to ten pounds.  She is on heart medicine and
lasix.  She is one sweet little girl.
Hannah Moose came to us at eleven years old.
Her owners dumped her at animal control
because she was old.  We saved this girl with just
hours to spare.  She is now 12 and doing great.
PomPom was dumped out at animal control
and was saved by another rescue group,
however when they found out that she had
heart problems, she was no longer wanted.
We took this precious little girl in and she is
awesome. She has good and bad days.
A TRIBUTE TO PEANUT
Po came to us as a puppy because he has a
blood clotting disorder. If he gets cut, he can
bleed to death.  He has to wear a long sleeve
shirt when he goes out and can only go outside
with an elderly dog that will play.  We have to be
very careful and watch him at all times.
Tribute To Hans
Sheker came to us from Izmir, Turkey.  She
was purposely thrown in front of a car and run
over. Her pelvis was broken and back legs
broken in several places.  This sweet girl was
then taken to a compound and received no
medical help.  We flew Sheker to us and had
her evaluated by Carolina Veterinary
Specialists. They felt it best to leave her legs
on for balance and get her fitted for a doggie
wheelchair.  This precious girl needs lots of
different pain meds and also daily deep tissue
massages. Sheker thanks the Tony Stewart
Foundation for donating money to buy her
wheels.
Tazi also came to us from Istanbul, Turkey.
This girl was hit by a truck and left on the side
of the road. A witness saw a group of young
teens throwing stones at her as she laid
helpless.  She was then taken to a compound
and could not walk to reach old bread that
was thrown out for food. She received no
medical treatment for her injuries and her rear
leg will be permanently deformed.  She
weighed a ghostly 31 pounds when we got
her. Today she is happy and healthy and is
my shadow.
Woody was saved just minutes from being
gassed.  The judge ordered that neither of his
owners were fit to own him and said that he
should go to animal control. Of course nobody
wanted this boy and just minutes before going
to the gas chamber to die a slow and agonizing
death, a fellow rescuer called me to see if we
would take him.  He was covered head to toe
with Demodectic mange.  We treated this boy
and he is now mange free and all his hair has
come back in, however he will always have
outbreaks.  Woody also suffers from some
severe stress and we work with him on his
issues everyday.

This silly girl is Tina and she came to us after a
neighbor could no longer stand to watch as this
dog was tormented everyday by another dog.
The final straw was when the other dog bit half
of Tina's ear off.  Tina also has issues with
other dogs and is something that we work on
with her. She has gotten better and is enjoying
life.

Meet Our Canine Kids
Daffey Duckster is an eleven month old Lab
cross.  This poor girl was hit by a car and left
for dead. Some nice person stopped and
picked her up.  Daffey had a broken back leg
that required a pin and plates. Unfortunately
the accident left Daffey with brain damage.
Lets just say that she is in a world all her own
and is now safe with us.
